Marketing & Communications Intern
Finnish Special Education in Africa (FSE), Sakea
Helsinki, Finland (January 2024-April 2024)

FSE is a Finnish non-profit working to get better education for deaf students in Tanzania. In combination with FSE I also worked with the Finnish marketing agency, Sakea. At FSE I was responsible for redesigning the website using both Wix and WordPress as well as translating content for grant applications. At Sakea I sorted through nearly 25 hours of documentary footage to create short promotional videos for FSE. This internship strengthened my skills in Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Bridge, and Audition

Hostel Staff
OneFam - Budapest, Hungary (July-Aug 2023)

OneFam Hostels is a chain of social hostels throughout Europe. Last summer I had the opportunity to work at OneFam Budapest and expand my worldview and global connections. In this position, I not only maintained the cleanliness and safety of the hostel, but also had the chance to lead day tours around cultural and historical landmarks of Budapest as well as organize evening activities to promote a social and welcoming atmosphere to our guests. This job allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and put my soft skills to the test in a new and unfamiliar environment

Communications Intern
Nature Net (Jan-July 2023)

Nature Net is a non-profit advocating for better outdoor education for school-aged children. In this position, I was responsible for a multitude of written and visual digital tasks that aided in promoting the value of the outdoors to school-aged children. Some of these tasks included planning and executing website design and updates, maintaining, creating, and boosting social media content, preparing monthly newsletters, writing press releases, and pursuing personal projects within the organization

Member Services Supervisor
Recreation and Wellbeing (Jan 2021 - Jan 2024)

I began my time at Rec Well as an Access Control and Equipment Assistant. After being promoted to Member Services Assistant, I held my Member Services Supervisor position for one year. In this position I oversaw all of the Member Services staff, sales, issues, and customer interactions. One of Rec Well's missions is to "remove barriers, build community, and push limits." Working for Rec Well for so long, I like to believe I actively lived out this mission in creating an inclusive and welcoming environment with both members and peers

Marketing Assistant
Peace Corps (Sept-Dec 2022)

In this position, I maintained the Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook pages for the UW-Madison Peace Corps, the #1 volunteer producing university for the past four years. I used multiple creative tools to market events and holidays important to the mission of the Peace Corps and assisted in the data entry of potential Peace Corps volunteers to the national database

Leadership and Involvement

Alpha Phi Omega

01

Alpha Phi Omega is a Co-Ed National Service Fraternity and I was a member of the Beta-Theta chapter at UW-Madison for two years. I served as the VP of Communications for our chapter for two consecutive semesters which involved maintaining the social media and sending out important updates to prospective and current members. In this club we valued service, leadership, and fellowship, and it was very rewarding to give back to the Madison community and meet like-minded students

Souvenirs Travel Magazine

Souvenirs is a student-led publication sponsored by the Wisconsin Union Directorate. During my time with Souvenirs I took on the title of both photographer and storyteller. In the Spring 2023 edition, I wrote about my experience traveling to Africa in order to showcase both my photography and my passion for travel journalism

Student Recreational Leadership Council

Through this leadership opportunity I was 1 of 20 Rec Well student employees representing the 1,000+ students employed. Our mission was to propose divisional changes within Recreation and Wellbeing in order to better support all student employees. We aided in providing professional development opportunities to student employees, participated in volunteer work throughout campus and the community, ran and executed food drives across campus, and provided reimbursements to students actively working to better their professional repertoire

There is a reason all of Charlotte's co-workers love to work with her, and it's because she is a compassionate, empathetic, charismatic, and knowledgeable leader. Alec Triggiano - Assistant Director of Staff Training and Development

I would be remiss to not credit the positive staff culture that was built within Member Services to Charlotte. She is an inspiration for all others to bring their best self always. Her commitment to Rec Well has also allowed her work ethic to shine, ultimately leading her to be a role model for those who follow in her footsteps

Client Testimonials

Scott Graham - Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Mad City Ghost Walks

Charlotte has impressed us at every turn on this website redesign project. She was very professional and admirable for doing the work first and seeking a satisfied customer before she sought payment.  It showed us her intent to return a quality product first, which speaks to her abilities as well as her commitment to provide something that not she is proud of, but that the customer is happy with as well.  Her work is creative, aesthetic, smart and she turned our project around in a surprisingly short time. Maybe most important of all she took our direction, which admittedly was sometime long and maybe even a little confusing, and distilled it down to a clear and concise message by the intelligent use of her design.  That resulting website broke through the clutter to get our message across in a way that even we didn’t truly understand until we saw it on the page. Without question we will use Charlotte again for our future design and photographic requirements.
